How it all started for me:

I never thought too much about the history of the Rubles until one day back in the early 1990's when my father William E. Ruble and his sister Betty J. (Ruble) Partridge were talking about a old family cemetery located less than a half mile from where we were standing. Both siblings agreed that the last person who took care of this cemetery was probably my great-grandfather Elmer E. Ruble. This would have been back in the 1940's-1950's. So my father and I took a trip to the Wood County Courthouse looking for some proof of its existence. While there we talked to a clerk who knew of this place and a very kind gentleman named Carol Cox Jr. who had researched the Ruble family. He looked for his phone number and that same afternoon we called Carol. Carol agreed to meet with my dad and I to talk about what he knows regarding the cemetery and the family. We arrived at his home and stayed for hours. Carol was kind enough to allow me to make copies of everything he had, in return I made several promises to him that I will always keep very dear to me. Not once have I ever broken my promise to him and I'm not going to start now. I promised him the following:

  • I would continue his research and computerize the results.
  • I would get the word out to other families who might have valuable information.
  • I will always offer help and guidance to other genealogist no matter what family they are looking for without charging a single dime.
  • I will always offer all my research free of charge.
  • When it is time to pass everything on to the next generation looking for answers I will gladly do so.
  • I will never print anything negative about a person or a family. This was never the intent of our research. I have seen others who have and doing this has opened them up to legal problems.

I can't begin to thank Carol and the rest of the wonderful people who have helped in so many ways over the years. Without their help this would not have happened.

If you have any information you would like to add or correct to my research, just send me an e-mail.
